    Justin Bartels - Impression (2012)

    I can’t not reblog this.

This is the best thing on the Internet. We undress everyday and it shows us how confined we are. Those imprints show how uncomfortable we are throughout each day just to impress other people. We create prisons in our own clothes. We are a prisoner in a socially constructed idea of what is beautiful.

  6. True Life: My Grandmother Will Not Stop Posting Stupid Shit on my Facebook

  7. In the last few months, I feel like things have slowly started coming together for me.

I got a new job. That’s probably one of the biggest things. I work at a really great corporation that makes and sells clothing wholesale to embroiderers and screenprinters. Since they’re part of the Fair Labor Association, I can actually feel really good about working there and knowing that this company plays a huge role in the independence and livelihood of women in the developing countries where they have their mills and sewing factories. Every facility has medical staff on site, multiple safety inspections every month, and practices active environmental stewardship. The attitude of being nice to everyone is sort of an office culture, which is a nice change from the self-serving, conniving attitudes I encountered while working other jobs, specifically working retail.

Getting up at 6 a.m. to be to work on time every day definitely takes a toll on the amount of sleep I get, but I get to drive past farms and huge expanses of forest on my way to work, I watch the sunrise every morning, I’m off work by 3:30 every afternoon, and I don’t have to work on the weekends. Add to that the fact that I feel very supported and encouraged by my supervisors (a rare and beautiful thing in any job) and it makes for a great work environment.

I am, for the most part, incredibly happy. I have the job. I have a boyfriend who loves me and supports me and who has made me an integral part of his life, the same way I’ve made him part of mine. I’m still losing weight, though not as rapidly as I was, and in a few months I will have enough money saved to get my own car and, eventually, move out of my parents’ house.

I may be tired all the time, but damned if I’m not the happiest I’ve been in a very long time.
